In this position, you will join the Thales Netherlands IS/IT team. IS/IT is at the core of Thales’ digital transformation, with a close relationship between IS/IT and business.
With a team of 150+ colleagues, we provide IS/IT support to our 2,500 NL colleagues across various Business Lines and functions. The IS/IT department of Thales Netherlands works closely with the international IS/IT departments of the Thales group.
About the team
IT Engineering Support (IT EngSup) is part of the IT department within Thales Netherlands called IS/IT. This department is responsible for all business-supporting IS/IT. The IS/IT department consists of about 10, mostly product-related, Agile/DevOps squads. IT Engineering Support comprises 24 enthusiastic IT Engineers and Consultants divided into 3 squads, working closely together using Agile methodologies. The squads include system, software, and IT architects, as well as application and infrastructure specialists. They gather requirements, validate them against security procedures, design solutions, and implement them with both end users and other IS/IT squads. We are a young, dynamic, self-managing group, involved in the latest IT developments within the Thales group. As a Linux Dev/Ops Engineer, you will be part of the Linux squad and collaborate closely with colleagues within and outside the squad.
About the job
Your day will start with a stand-up meeting to review progress, plan activities, and address obstacles. Following this, you will roll out and improve tooling, support Engineers, and serve as a knowledge resource for colleagues. You will continually work to enhance cooperation within your squad and with other squads. Using Agile principles, you will focus on the stability and security of Linux servers and (virtual) workstations.
About you
We are looking for a colleague who:
- has a (technical) bachelor or master degree, preferably in IT
- has relevant experience, especially in an Agile environment
- has experience within a complex enterprise IT environment
- has strong communication skills
- is open-minded towards adopting new ways of working
- has a strong desire for personal and technical development
- is fluent in English
- is a team player
- has experience with tools and OS such as Ansible, Puppet, Red Hat Satellite, GIT, container technologies, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7, 8, and 9
- has affinity with Citrix on Linux; experience is an advantage
- possesses good analytical and conceptual skills
- has experience with automation and advancing team capabilities
- has proven experience in implementing and transitioning teams to modern automation standards, preferably with Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform
- has experience setting up and maintaining CI/CD pipelines with Ansible code bases
- preferably has experience with Jenkins, Bitbucket, or Gitlab
- can commit to being in the office at least 2 days per week
